Safety

Vision:

Ensure the safety of both our athletes and coaches against the COVID-19 virus throughout practices. Ensure that effective skills are developed while adhering to all necessary safety protocols as set out by the Department of Education. Prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus during practices and to lower the risk of infection.

Mission:

Develop and implement strict rules and regulations for sport practices. Create and implement safety principles to limit the risk of infections. Create a Sport Committee tasked to communicate to parents and various school stakeholders regarding the re-opening of sport, school access and control protocols, sanitisation, and parent’s responsibilities.

Covid-19 Sport Principles of Safety:

Sport Covid-19 regulations:

  • All learners participating in the practice sessions must have a consent form signed by the learner’s parents or primary care giver. No learner transport and no spectators will be allowed. 
  • The following Personal Protective Equipment must be available during each practice:
    • Masks (shield optional) and sanitizer for hands and equipment
    • Sweat towel for coach
    • Thermometer
    •  Learner Covid-19 register
    • First Aid Kit

Responsibilities before practices:

  • Sanitize all equipment that will be used in the practice session.
  • Ensure that you have:
    • Learner register and pen
    • Thermometer
    • Sanitizer for learner’s hand
    • Extra mask for emergencies.
  • All exercise grids must be prepared before the practice starts.
  • Ensure that all the indemnity forms for the learners participating are available in a file.

Responsibilities during practices:

  • Before practice starts, all learners must line up for screening:
    • Learner’s names must be recorded
    • Learner’s temperature must be recorded
    • Learner’s hands must be sanitized.
  • Learners with any Covid-19 symptoms or fever will not be allowed to participate and will be isolated.
  • During practice, ensure that the learners maintain social distancing (minimum 1 meter).
  • Learners must bring their own water bottles. Learners, who did not bring their own water, can be allowed to drink water from the taps, but only 3 learners at a time.
  • Learners will not be allowed to share any bottles or equipment with each other.

Responsibilities after practices:

  • Coaches must sanitize the learners’ hands again after the practice has finished.
  • Learners must go to the waiting area to be fetched by their parents
  • Maintain social distancing at all times.
  • Coach must wait with the learners until all learners are gone.
  • All equipment needs to be sanitized for the next practice session.
  • All equipment must be stored and locked up in a safe place.
