Our school is situated in Edenvale on the corner of Second Street and 15^th Avenue.

The safety of our learners and staff is of utmost importance, therefore we would like to bring the following arrangements to your attention:

The big gate at the main entrance of the school (vehicle entrance), sports gate and the aftercare gate will be closed at all times.Parents must please use the reception gate in 15^th Avenue and report at reception. The main gate, sports gate may not be used by parents to enter the school premises during the above times.
After school, Gr. 1-3 learners will go to the sport gate supervised by their teachers (small gate at the rugby field). Learners that are not fetched will go back to their waiting classes.
Grade R learners must be fetched at 13:00 at the reception gate next to the Gr. R classes.
Grade R-3 learners who do not go home directly after school, must go back to their waiting classes and wait for their parents to fetch them. Parents that are a bit late, must go to the office from where the learners will be called.
There is a huge challenge with learners not being collected on time and his poses a safety risk to our learners after school unless they are involved with extra mural/co-curricular activities. The teachers on detention duty will only be responsible for learners in detention. Please note that teachers are only required to stay at school until 14:30. Learners will not have access to the school grounds after closing time of the school unless they are involved with extra mural/co-curricular activities.

Graduation

Grade R which is known as the Reception Year is the year of schooling before Grade 1.

Grade R acts as a bridge between pre-primary preparing learners for grade 1. In Grade R, children officially become learners. In MW de Wet our Grade R learners move from an unstructured learning to a more structured learning, here we will help the learners to expand their concentration span to follow structured lessons from the formal curriculum for the first time which prepares them for formal schooling.

Our Grade R class is taught within a prescribed curriculum, according to the relevant Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statements (CAPS) documents. Grade R falls under the Foundational Phase, in which learning content focuses on three subjects, namely Language, Mathematics and Life Skills. We do not formally teach language, mathematics, and life skills, but expose the Grade R learners to these fields, through integrated play-based activities. After all, as the wise Dr Seuss said “Children want the same things we want. To laugh, to be challenged, to be entertained and delighted.” MW de Wet would love to welcome your child to our grade R program.
